Dr. Mehta brings over 25 years of experience developing advanced technology and managing R&D in a broad range of industries. He has participated in strategic planning, technology management, organizational design, process reengineering, and innovation alliances development. Dr. Mehta has held a wide array of R&D management roles from planning and guiding a $150M+ R&D portfolio to intellectual property management.
Dr. Mehta also has practical experience in participating in detailed engineering design and advanced technology development. He has been involved in developing methods for engineering design, modeling and optimizing complex systems. His design work has received several awards such as American Consulting Engineers Council’s Engineering Excellence Award.
Dr. Mehta's hands-on involvement in R&D and R&D management has given him a unique perspective into the needs of R&D-focused organizations. Most recently, Dr. Mehta has launched a new business (InspiRD) developing software systems for enterprise R&D management. He has written extensively about R&D management and presented his work at industry conferences.
Dr. Mehta received his B.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology. He received M.S. and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. His graduate research was funded by NASA and focused on stochastic methods for modeling complex systems. His graduate work was recognized as “Outstanding Contribution to the Engineering Profession” by American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Mehta also receive an M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA. He has published more than 10 articles in engineering and management journals.
